Dermatosurgery is a sub-specialty of dermatology developed during the last 2-3 decades. It deals with the surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the skin. There are different indications for skin tumors removal:
- Medical indications – based on the recommendation of dermatologist – related to visible changes in size, shape, surface and color of moles or fast-growing nodules on the skin.
- Aesthetic indications - at the request of the patient, due to aesthetic disadvantages that skin lesions cause
- Functional indications - at the request of the patient, due to the irritating effect of the moles or nodules located in places of friction (neck, armpit and groin areas)
Removal of moles or nodules from the surface of the skin, regardless of the reason, requires histological examination.
